A betta is one of the easiest pets for a Filipino home. You don't need a heater, a big tank or an expensive filter. You need three things: treated water, tiny meals, and a steady spot away from the aircon.

  • One betta per tank. Two males will fight.
  • Use a lid with a small air gap. Bettas can jump.
  • Gentle filter or none. Long fins tire in a strong current.
2 · The water

Anti-chlorine, every time

Momo adds anti-chlorine drops to a pail of tap water
  • Tap water has chlorine, which burns a fish's gills. Add anti-chlorine every time you add tap water, top-ups included.
  • New water should feel the same temperature as the tank.
  • Never wash the tank or decor with soap.
3 · The spot

4 · Feeding

Feed less than you think

Momo drops two or three pellets into the tank

How to handle your betta
  1. Prepare the tank first. Fill it with water that has anti-chlorine added.
  2. Float the closed bag in the tank for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Gently net the fish in. Don't pour in the bag water.
  4. No food on the first day.
  • One betta per tank. Two males will fight.
  • Use a lid with a small air gap. Bettas can jump.
  • Never use soap on the tank or decor. Rinse with plain water.

  • Message us right away if it stops eating for 2 days, lies at the bottom, or shows white spots or torn fins.
